He was appointed professor of mathematics at the Higher Teachers’ School and then of applied mathematics at the College of Science in 1926. He was granted the title of professor from Cairo University when he was under thirty years old. In 1936 he was elected dean of the Faculty of Science, thus becoming its first Egyptian dean. He received the title of Pashawiya from King Farouk. A group of Egypt’s most famous scholars were taught by him, including Samira Moussa.
